Butterflies

I had a pretty darn good week! Tuesday was spent with Grant and we went out to eat for breakfast, took in a movie and played a lot. It was fun.
We've been watching a lot of Olympic swimming on TV and I went swimming Wednesday. When I got home I put my goggles on all by myself and swam around the living room. (I'm a fast swimmer.)  Afterward, I made mom interview me about the race.
Friday after school Mom and I made "whoopee cookies". I must say they turned out well. A couple of cookies with a frosting center makes for an excellent sandwich.
Saturday morning it rained! Normally this would make everyone sad but it's been so dry that Mom, Dad and I just stared out the window with silly grins on our faces. Yeah, rain!
Today was pretty mellow. It was nice and much cooler so I played outside this morning and Grandma Maggy stopped by for a visit after church. She taught me how to do a somersault and it was fun!
I also played the "squeeze Mommy" game for awhile. It was so good to be outside!
The family was starting to get bored, so I decided we should roadtrip. The destination? Ames! First we  had a picnic at Lake Laverne and I befriended a duck.
Next we explored the Union and I got to use a real college drinking fountain.
A stop at the Campanile? Check! (The bells were really, really loud. Hopefully, someday, my date will be as startled as I was and I can steal a kiss as the plaque said that is what a college student does at the Campanile.)
After campus we headed over to Reiman Gardens to see the Lego exhibit and catch the butterflies. (By the way, I'm no longer a butterfly as I'm such a big kid.)
A lawnmower made from Legos. Awesome!
A real frog? Reiman Gardens is a totally cool place.
After we waited in line for a long time we finally got into the butterfly room. There were hundreds of butterflies and they were really easy to see. I liked being there.
One landed on my arm!
It was a good visit. I'll totally go back.

One last thing, and I hate to toot my own horn here, but look where my photo ended up ... in the Wakonda Club August newsletter! How cool is this!
Have a super week!
