We've got some catching up to do ...

Hello, everyone. Sorry for the delay since my last post. Lots of things have been going on!

Going back a couple of weeks, Mom, Dad and I go our tomatoes planted. It was hard work. 

Mom and I had several days to ourselves as Dad had his annual Okoboji trip. I laid on the charm and talked Mom into letting me sleep in her bed while he was gone. I don't know why Mom thought she needed to take a picture of it, but I look pretty comfortable. 

The day before school got out for the year my class got to go to the park and pond near our school. Mom came along to help. It was a lot of fun. 

That night I had soccer. It was the best weather yet and I played really well.

Friday school wrapped early so Mom and I headed to Grandma Kathy and Papa's house. It was wet and cold all weekend. Papa hasn't been in the field yet! (As of the date of this blog, June 5, 2013.) I had hoped for lots of tractor time but it wasn't meant to be.

This gave me the opportunity to do some fun things in the kitchen with Grandma. You should have seen our rainbow cupcakes!

We did go to a couple yard sales and one of my pick-ups was this awesome police helmet. 

Uncle Eric came home that weekend so there was lots of guy time. We talked farming, firefighting, police work. It was a good time.

Finally, as we were wrapping up our visit I got to go drive tractors with Papa!

Once back in Des Moines Mom and I had a few days to fill. First up on the agenda? A trip to the Capitol. We took a shuttle bus which was fun.

What a big building! Mom? Will I live here someday?

Mom was nice and read all the signs to me as we toured the building. This sign was about the U.S.S. Iowa, a very famous ship. I was fascinated. 

There were lots and lots of stairs in the Capitol.

And, after our visit we had lunch with Dad. It was an awesome day!

Uncle Howie and Aunt Jeanne sent me an awesome fire chief notebook and I couldn't wait to put it to good use.

The next day, keeping with the same theme, I continued my art pursuits outside with my hip sunglasses.

Mom and I hit yard sales in Des Moines too this past week. I got awesome boats and have totally taken over the bathtub with my new toys. (I gave them a good scrubbing before playing with them.)

The week ended with a fun bike ride with Mom ... 

... and swimming lessons! It's that time of year again and I'm so excited to get back in the pool!

A blog update ... can you believe it?!

Once again I'm late with an update. Sorry, gang.

It's been a busy couple of weeks, but they all are it seems. 

It was the first of May which is May Day which means giving and receiving anonymous baskets. Fun! I ended up getting lots of candy.

The next day it snowed. May 2, 2013. Huh.

Thankfully Uncle Eric came up for the weekend and we practiced pulling people over. It's always good to share best practices with another officer.

The weekend got even better after I got to go to a fun birthday party at a gymnastics place. I rolled, tumbled and jumped. (Uncle Eric went with me and learned four year old birthday parties aren't really his thing. There were too many loud, little sticky people.)

Later in the week it was the academic fair at school. This is a big enough deal that I got both grandmas to come as well as Papa, Mom and Dad.

Everyone seemed really impressed with my room. I showed them all the things I knew and we had a super good time.

The next day I got to stay home from school. It was a great day! McDonald's for lunch ...

... then soccer ...

... then some rest!

The next morning Grandma Kathy and Papa were leaving but before she left, Grandma and I went looking for yard sales.  I went to my first one the day before, I think I'm hooked.

Sunday was Mother's Day. I have the world's best Mom and it was a good day for me. We went on a bike ride together!

This week at school we hosted a tea for Mom's and I helped my classmates sing a song in appreciation for all the Moms do for us.

Friday night was soccer and I scored a goal! 

Afterwards I got a treat.

Saturday was busy. We got some new furniture so Asa and Jill stopped by to get the old couch and a chair. They had a very cool trailer and I enjoyed helping carry things.

I also had a birthday party that afternoon, and got to have a pony ride!

The best part of the day? A visit from my friend Henry from Madison. His Dad is Mom's cousin and we had a lot of fun.

Not only did he like playing fire and rescue and skeleton ghost hunter with flashlights, but we got to have a camp out in the living room!

Today, before he left, we went to the park and played hard for an hour or so. I was pooped and sad that Henry had to leave.

Slow Play

Sorry, guys ... I need to be assessed a slow play penalty. It's been too long since I gave the world an update on my life.

Here is a quick update about what's been going on.

1) Soccer was cancelled for two weeks because of weather. I was mad but what can you do?!

2) Mom and I went to the last Iowa Energy game of the year and met a celebrity.

3) The weather was nice enough one day that I talked Dad into taking me fishing. He stinks at it. We didn't catch a thing. I need Bob or Sam to take me ... those guys are the pros.

4) Mom was sick for a week and everything seemed to be fine so we went to Kansas City to visit Uncle Eric.

5) We came home and I got knocked down and, as it turns out, a lot of my school did too. Thankfully Grandma Kathy dropped what she was doing (and abandoned a sick Papa) to come up and nurse me back to health.

6) Dad turned 43. (He is so old he is starting to get confused when he tries to work the electronics.) I slept through the first party, organized a second party then we went to Grandma Maggy's for the third party.

7) I got a bike! It's got lights and sirens and reminds me a lot of Uncle Eric's police motorcycle when he used to ride one.

Soccer!

I wanted to get this onto the blog before anyone saw it on ESPN or one of those European soccer football gossip sites. Exclusive, never-before-seen footage from the first West Des Moines Soccer Club's "mini kickers" practice of 2013! Soccer was a blast ... I'm already counting down the days until next Friday.

Happy Easter!

Hey, gang! It was Easter this week so that was pretty special. In school we are studying China so I got my very own set of chop sticks to use.

The weather started to turn by the end of the week so I could get outside. The first order of business was getting the lawn mower up and running for the year.

A couple of days ago I got an Easter package from Uncle Eric. Candy! Toys! Oh my!

After talking to Uncle Eric on the phone I called Uncle Chris to keep learning about China. He had some great stories!

Here he is on the Great Wall! (It's actually multiple sections, not one long wall.)

By the end of the week it was warm and sunny. It was sooooooo good to be outside again!

Yesterday was the brunch and Easter egg hunt at Wakonda. Good times!

There were lots of kids in my group but, thankfully, there were lots of eggs.

Time go fill my basket!

Yes! I got my limit! It was good hunting.

Mom and Dad were impressed with my loot.

Afterwards I compared my stash with Sari and Grant White. All of us were pleased.

Last night Grandma Maggy came over for dinner to celebrate Easter and her birthday. She brought over the lamb cake and I got to help decorate it.

Frost. Frost. Frost.

To finish it off we colored cocoanut and colored it green for grass. Mom put food coloring in a bag with the coconut and I got to shake, shake, shake, shake, shake. After awhile it turned green!

After dinner we got to eat the cake as part of Grandma's birthday party. My job was to put ice cream on the plates.

A highlight from yesterday? Grandma Maggy tipping me off about a baritone in my very own basement! Grandpa Mike played it as did Dad. He got it out for me and I gave it a try.

Once Grandma left for the night my efforts turned to getting ready for the Easter Bunny. Carrots, water and a note. Set!

This morning my preparations were rewarded ... the Easter Bunny came!

Not only did I make out like a bandit on the candy I got a game, new whiffle balls and best of all?! A watch! I've wanted one for awhile and the Easter Bunny must have heard me. I love it!
