I missed the party ...

Hey, gang. Another week has come and gone. It was a week that Mom and Dad would say was filled with "teachable moments". Personally, I don't think they learned a thing. How frustrating they can be!

One thing that went well this week was my art project. With St. Patrick's Day coming up the focus was on rainbows and pots 'o gold. Thanks for the help, Mom!
After a long week everyone was gassed, so Friday night became family movie night! Pizza? Check. Jammies? Check. Toy Story III? Check!

There was a lot to do Saturday so I got up and started work on my chores right away.

The biggest thing on my "to do" list was getting Avery a present for his 10th birthday party. Dad and I went out and got it and I was set for a fun afternoon. Oh wait, I have to take a nap before the party?! Well, I don't think so!

(Suffice it to say that what we had was a "failure to communicate". I wasn't tired. Mom and Dad thought I was and because I didn't go to sleep when I was supposed to I had to miss the party.)

Dad went on his own and gave Avery the present...

... and as soon as he left I feel fast asleep on Mom!

Once I woke up we went out for dinner as nobody seemed to be in the mood to cook. One thing about eating out, you have to use your napkin!

Wipe. Wipe. Wipe.

Last night, after eating we came home and Lawrence Welk was on! In between IPTV's pledge drive segments I really got into watching Doc. Severinsen talk about the songs and watching Mr. Welk conduct the band. On top of that, I also got to watch videos of "tractor pulls gone wrong" which was very entertaining.

Mom's hosting Bunco tomorrow so today's big task was grocery shopping. Before hand, everyone agreed that some breakfast was in order. Thanks to the deli at Dahl's for the food and ...

... the firetruck grocery cart!

I also got to pick out my yogurt, which was fun.

Next up was church with Grandma Maggy. The kids at church did the music this morning and it was really cool.

The final thing on the list this weekend was an Iowa Energy basketball game. It was loud, but a lot of fun.

I got to eat popcorn.

I also got to explain basketball rules to Mom.

Time to go home! (It didn't seem like this many steps when we went down to our seats!)

Big boy!

It was a normal week until Friday when everyone got home from work and school. Mom and Dad were talking about "big boy" this and "big boy" that at dinner and I didn't really understand where they were going with it until we all went upstairs, Dad grabbed an Allen wrench and told me to help.



Wholly crap! The entire side of my crib just came off! This is AWESOME!

Imagine the excitement as I realized that I now have total nighttime freedom! (Watch out, Mom and Dad.)

Good night from a big boy in his big boy bed!

After such a crazy Friday night (We Millers know how to party ... don't let anyone tell you different.) Saturday was a day of errands. Drycleaners. Office. Car dealer. Airport to pick up Grandma Maggy. It was a very productive day.

Today was mellow. I've discovered that the Dust Buster is just a perfect size for me so I spent some time this morning cleaning. Dad gets it down and turns it on and I can wander around cleaning to my heart's content!After doing my cleaning I got dressed to help Mom make lunch. (I was very useful, indeed.)

Visits

There were several visits this past week. Grandma Maggy came over for a visit. Grandma Kathy came over for a visit. Dad left to visit Uncle Chris and Katie.

For Grandma Maggy's visit Dad fired up the grill for the first time in 2011. I helped Mom get the potatoes ready.
Grandma Kathy came after school Friday and brought me a new book!

Saturday Mom went to the office for awhile so Grandma and I hung out and had a great time. Later, when Mom was home the three of us went to the park for a few minutes.

It got to be pretty cold so we didn't stay very long.

Sunday morning I wanted to do something nice from Grandma Kathy and Mom so I made everyone waffles.

After breakfast we went to the mall and I got to hang out in their play area.

While all that was happening Dad was in Santa Cruz, CA hanging with Uncle Chris and Katie. They live in an awesome, beautiful part of the country and I really look forward to my visit for Uncle Chris's graduation next May.

Not a bad view! Dad said there were miles of views like this just a few feet from Uncle Chris's house.

There also were surfers ... catch a wave, Dude!

Fletchers in da hoouussee ...

Hello, loyal readers ... in keeping with my recent cooking theme I have some things to share about happenings over the past couple of days. After a fun night at Grandma Maggy's Saturday was spent prepping for a visit by the Fletcher family!

Mom used her mixer to make really awesome peanut butter frosting and I got to lick the beater.
Nolan was pretty quiet during the visit and brought his own food.
Karlin liked being in the kitchen ...

... and watching Grant and I decorate our Rice Krispy treats. Mom's idea worked out really well!

We had sprinkles and frosting and, from Grant's mom, heart-shaped cookie cutters. Fun!

Not only did we get to decorate our treats, we got to make our own pizzas! It was a blast having the Fletchers over!

Today was a lazy day. Mom took some video of me showing off my faces so everyone will know how I'm feeling just by looking.

Later this afternoon, because it was so nice Mom and I went for a walk. Here I am by the church.

I also helped move some ice off the driveway. (I like being helpful.)

The week that was ...

It was another busy week. My adventures in the kitchen continued Monday night as I helped prepare dinner. Stirring the rice ended up being a very useful thing to do.
Wednesday was a snow day! Not only did I get to stay home from school, but Dad's flights were delayed so I got to home with him for most of the day!

We hung out, played, puttered around the house and baked cookies!

I also got to help Mom get grapes ready for dinner after we took Dad to the airport.

I know what you're thinking ... "Hey, what's a ground hog doing in Pierce's blog?!" Well, the jokes on you. It's me sporting the ground hog mask I made at school.

I got mail Thursday ... Grandma Kathy and Papa sent me a little care package with a cool new book. I couldn't wait to read it so stopped what I was doing and went through it right after I got it open. Thanks, Grandma and Papa!

Old Macdonald had a farm ...

The weekend can never come too soon. Dinner Friday is usually comfort food and I was really happy when Mom agreed to stop at McDonald's!

While I was home, Dad was with Uncle Matt and Aunt Emily! They had a great time and Dad enjoyed the funk that is Austin.

Saturday Mom and I wanted to get out of the house so we headed over to The Science Center of Iowa. Very cool. Bubbles...

... slimy animals that freaked Mom out ...

... and a backhoe!!!!!!!!! I loved it and couldn't get enough. Mom made me share and that was no fun at all.

While we were there Dad was having fun in Austin. He did some shopping at the famous Allen's boots ...

... and helped Uncle Matt Skype with Uncle Chris.

Oh cool ... look, Mommy ... a snake!

It could be fun to be a weatherman ... I mean, it can't be that hard ... you don't even have to be right!

Sunday was fun at a bouncy house place. (Mom really went overboard keeping me busy!)

Sunday afternoon I skyped with Grandma Kathy and Papa.
