Say it ... don't spray it ...

Well, it's been a couple of weeks since I did a full update. In that time, Mom and Dad went on vacation, I got to stay at Grandma Maggy's, Grandma Kathy came up, I had a couple of days at home with Mom, watched lots of people with lawn mowers, went to a 40th birthday party, played tractor in the basement, played outside and enjoyed myself a lot.

I could share a ton of photos but will keep this brief.

Here are Mom and Dad in Santa Fe. They went with Uncle Chris and his friend Katie and Uncle Matt and Aunt Emily.

As I mentioned, Grandma Maggy and Grandma Kathy hung out with me while Mom and Dad were gone ...

... and I got to spend great time with Mom for a couple of days. I helped her plant her gift from "Mommies and Muffins" then we went to Gray's Lake where I got to watch someone mow.

Thursday was a regular school day but I got to wear my cool Rush t-shirt! Mom got it for Dad as a birthday gift but it's really my shirt. Dad likes it a lot and my teachers think I'm pretty cool.
Friday I hoped to get in some golf but had a heck of a time lifting the clubs. Eventually I just gave up and decided that I'd play some other time.
Saturday was a good day. I got to watch Dad mow ...
... then we headed to Atlantic for our friend Steve's 40th birthday party. (All of Dad's friends are getting really old.) He had the best party ever with a bouncy house, a couple of dogs, lots of gravel to throw, food and other stuff! After climbing on his tractor for what seemed like hours and dropping as many hints as I could I finally got a ride!

Steve also has the coolest rolling trash cans! I'm going to have to push Mom and Dad to get one of these! (Get it, push ... get it?!)

And finally today was a pretty mellow day. After church we had lunch with Grandma Maggy then the family had a quiet afternoon ... did you know that Dad makes a great obstacle course for playing tractor! He doesn't even get upset when I spray him!

Have a great week!

A day for Mama Llama ...

This was a fun week. Dad traveled for a few days so I got to go to the airport and get him on Wednesday ...

... then eat at Jethros ...

... then act interested as Dad tried engage me in a debate over who is smarter, Neil Degrasse Tyson or Stephen Hawking.

There is no debate, however, over who wins in a battle of noggin vs. cement driveway. Driveway 1. Noggin 0.

Friday was a very special day. Mom got to come visit me at school for an event called "Mommies and Muffins". It was a cool way to kick off Mother's Day weekend!

Saturday we loaded up and went to Pella for Tulip Time! It was a surprise, but Grandma and Grandpa were there too. We got to watch the parade together. It was cold but everyone had fun.

After the parade Grant, Amanda, Mom and I took a photo by the Central College sign just like last year.

Grant and I were bigger in this photo!

I admit it, Pella wore me down and I slept hard on the way home.
But, after a cat nap and snacks I perked right up ...

... so I could watch Dad mow the yard.

Finally, after keeping my card and gift a secret all week today was the big day. Mother's Day! I have the best Mom ever so I worked really hard to make sure her day was a good one. I told Dad to make coffee when she got up and I tried to be extra cute this morning before we went to Grandma Maggy's for lunch.

Grandma Maggy got a good family photo during our visit. (She was really nice and let me play with Millie, fed me great food and even let me take a nap on her bed!)

I love you, Mama Llama!

I hope all mommies have a great week. Thanks to Mom, Grandma Kathy, Grandma Maggy and Great-Grandma Margaret for all you do!

Much love to all ...

My little red wagon!

Well, once again Mom hit the jackpot. I now have my own little red wagon! We picked it up Monday after school and I instantly fell in love.

Grant came over Tuesday and I showed it off. (He said he liked it a lot.)

Because Grant was over everyone got to have McDonald's for dinner. I used the opportunity to show off a new trick ... dipping my fries in Ketchup!

While I was at it I also demonstrated the proper technique to apply lotion as I had noticed some folks (who will remain unnamed) didn't do it properly.

Wednesday I got to hang out for a bit at Flynn Wright.
Dad has pretty cool toys for an adult. I like his truck and I-Cubs mascot the best.

Mom had plans with Amanda that night so Dad and I went on a walk. Here I am checking out the famous Rice Field. Dad told me about he and Mom used to live in a different house that was next to the park.
Thursday was a regular day. Mom got this photo of Dad and I walking to the car.
That night, after dinner we went to Snookies!

Saturday was the YESS Duck Derby. Dad and I checked it out and then met up with some Flynn Wright friends. This is Annie Proctor. I liked her a lot but played hard to get.

Finally, Dad's cousin Ellen stopped by for a visit today. It was good to catch up.

That's it for now! Have a great week, all.

Dad's old ...

Hey, gang! It's me ... Pierce! It was another busy week.

Tuesday everyone was in a good mood and we tried for a family photo but nothing seemed to work out right. Oh well, I think this one is pretty good.

Wednesday Mom locked up her "Best Mommy Ever!" award by finding me the coolest toy ever ... a slide!

She, Dad and I picked it up after work/school and I couldn't wait to get home and give it a try.

I tested it at least 25 times that night to make sure it was just right and ...

... it was!

Weeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, but just in case you thought my life was all wine and roses I did get pretty sad the next day when I couldn't have the big bowl of fruit on my tray. (Mom doesn't seem to trust me with full bowls of anything after "the incident".)

The weekend was fun but weather kind of messed things up. It was cool and rainy which kept Dad from golfing, me from sliding and both of us inside bugging Mom.

Grandma Maggy came over Saturday to help Mom and I celebrate a special day with Dad. He turned 40! Wow. He's so old! (He couldn't blow out 40 candles so Mom just gave him one.)

I did my part to help finish the cup cakes and spread cheer during the celebration. (Weird, I had breakfast and took a bath then had lunch and got another bath. I wonder why.)

That night Mom and I took Dad to Raccoon River Brewing Company for a family birthday dinner. We had a lot of fun and split a big piece of cake.
This morning was rainy and cold (again) so Dad didn't golf. We decided that a good family breakfast was in order so headed off to A.K. O'Conners in our neighborhood for some food and fun.

Our original plan was to take in an I-Cubs game but again Mother Nature said "No!". So, after naps Dad and I struck out on our own. Neither of us had ever been or knew what to expect but were impressed with our trip to Bass Pro Shops.

They had a HUGE fish tank that I really enjoyed ...

... had products for sale that Dad thought might be useful ...

... and some that neither one of us really understood.
Needless to say we were glad we went. It was a learning experience and lots of people seem to spend lots of money there. Afterwards Dad made a side trip to Golf Galaxy to get his bearings. (He seemed to be a bit overwhelmed and needed to get back into his "comfort zone".)

It was an odd week and I can't help but think Dad's birthday got to him somehow. This weekend kept singing an odd song and staring blankly into space. I promised that I would get him a nice room "in the home" when the time came and that seemed reassuring.

Well, that's it for now. Oh, one thing before I go ... can anyone explain bumper stickers to me? I don't get it.

Have a great week!

Much love to all ...

Busy week. Short post.

Wow ... a lot happened this past week.

I'll apologize in advance for a delayed blog update and short narrative. (I didn't get this done last night so I'm "borrowing" wireless from the nursing home next to school to wrap it up today. Hopefully they won't notice me on their network until I get finished. Oh, and hopefully Mom and Dad didn't notice that I grabbed the laptop before we left this morning!)

Earlier this week Mom and Dad tried to explain the subtleties of "Rock Paper Scissors" to me. I'm not sure I get the point of this game ...

Saturday was a great day! Mom and I ran errands while Dad worked in the yard then we all went to the park!

That afternoon I got to go to Grandma Maggy's because Mom put together a surprise birthday party for Dad! Dad raved about what a fun time he had and, looking at the photos, it sure seemed like everyone was happy to be there. (The adults all had what looked like sippy cups in every photo ... weird.)
Keeping with an earlier theme Grandma took me to her favorite park, too! (It was a great day to be a little boy!)
Among other things, Grandma bought me a fun cow plate that I got to eat breakfast on Sunday morning!
Mom and Dad came to get me and I showed them some of the photos Grandma took of me. She got some good ones!

Later yesterday afternoon I got to play outside with Mom while Dad played golf. Here I am modeling my cool sandals ...
... and here I am modeling my new hat!

One last thought before I go ... always make time to smell the flowers.
